Sunday with the (ex-)Phillips girls and other halves
Ann and Jane with husbands came to visit us today – and it turned out to be a lovely September day. Jane and Bob arrived bearing a yummy home made fruit cake, and Ann and Michael came with wine, apple pie and strudel, and lots of other foodie goodies. Thank you all for those – totally unnecessary but you’re not having them back !!!
We took a gentle cruise along the Thames down towards Bourne End, passing uneventfully (thank goodness) through Temple Lock, under Marlow Bridge and through Marlow Lock. A few hours later and we had arrived at a riverside pub – The Bounty – where we managed to find a space to dock and spent an enjoyable time chatting over a nice drink in front of a roaring fire.
On leaving we made our way back towards the marina, with a lunch-stop on the way at a pleasant little mooring – unfortunately time was rushing on and we had to leave before we had a chance to have our dessert, but we did manage to eat it on the hoof so all was not lost. Once again, through Marlow Lock, under the bridge, through Temple Lock and a right hand turn into the marina for our final stop of the day, when we said goodbye to our guests and Andy sat down to relax in front of the Singapore Grand Prix.
