Down time
After a few weeks with guests, time for some quiet cruising, and so we left Weesp heading off down the Vecht through Muiden and onto the Markermeer.
Prior to departure though we had to do a little housekeeping, namely emptying the black tank, and filling the almost depleted water tank – an hour or so later we were ready and set off in good weather. Fairly early on we realised that the bimini would need to come down, so just in time Nicki was quickly despatched to do the business just as we approached a low bridge.
On arriving in Muiden we had a brief wait for the bridge/lock (no VHF or contact number available) before passing through, emerging out the other side to lots of lovely old ships overlooked by an interesting castle, and further along what appeared to be a ships’ graveyard (well, 3 or 4 of them).
Almost four hours later we moored up at De Schelp, an isolated island with no facilities although there were a dozen other boats there. Quite a pretty little place with walking space for the dogs, god weather and lots of birdsong.
