Den Bosch to Heusden (23/24 September)
23rd September – Instead of heading back up the Zuid-Willemsvaartkanaal, we decided to go via Sluis 0 passing through Den Bosch, so had to wait for it to open at 11am, by which time we were ready and waiting.
A pleasant trip to Heusden, with Bob taking the wheel most of the way. Passed through a couple of locks (that almost didn’t seem worth the effort as the drop was minuscule in them both), arriving in pretty windy conditions, so that we struggled a little to more up alongside the visitor pontoon.
We only spent one night here in Heusden, and it turned into a very windy and rainy night. Still, Jane and Bob managed to look around the town before the rain set in, and Casper had a good run along the fortifications.
24th September – Today we headed off to Leerdam, and once again the weather gods were with us and we had a good trip, making good time and arriving mid afternoon. As in previous visits, we slotted nicely into the same spot just along the public quay, and stayed there for two nights.
