Heusden to Leerdam (24th-26th September)
24th September – Arriving in Leerdam we moored along the public quay, which is a great height for us to get on and off the boat without any issues. Bob and Jane headed off to explore, leaving Nicki and I to our own devices.
Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great a lot of the time but we still managed a few strolls around the area to view the nearby sights. On our second evening Bob and Jane took us out for a lovely meal at De Beren restaurant, just along the quay from us, and we were seated overlooking the marina and the river – very enjoyable.
Nicki found s nice little walk nearby which has a goat enclosure, a source of great entertainment for Casper.
Bob walked over to look at a windmill just outside of the town and had an interesting chat with the owner/occupant who brought out photos and maps to show him. Nicki and Jane had a look round the shops, and I rested up as my knee is still causing a great deal of discomfort.
26th September – Off again today, this time on our way to Meerkerk on the Merwedekanaal.
